2022-2023 Committee & Volunteer Openings

volunteer_help_wantedWe are always looking to add parent volunteers to the various PTA committees.  We have opportunities for everyone!  Whether you’re creative, prefer to work behind the scenes, have some fun and fresh ideas for new fundraisers or community events, we’d love to have you join us.  Committees are flexible with meeting times and will work to accommodate everyone’s schedules!  If you find something you’re interested in below, let us know.  Have a new idea or role that you’d like to fill and don’t quite see a fit, reach out to us – we love new ideas and would LOVE to create a new role for you!

Enrichment Committee:

  • Work with the Enrichment Coordinator, NES Principal, and teachers to assist with finding and booking all classroom, grade level and school wide enrichment events
  • Work to secure grants for the funding of enrichment events and presentations
  • Work with PTA President and NES Principal to secure event/presentation approval and scheduling
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a year long position however the bulk  of the work is done during the booking process in the fall. We are looking for someone to step into the Coordinator role during the 2023-2024 school year so this is a perfect opportunity to learn the ropes.

Yearbook Committee:

  • Work on creation and layout of NES Yearbook.
  • Take pictures/assist 6th grade Yearbook Club students in taking pictures at all grade levels and school wide events
  • Help with layout and design of yearbook with vendor’s software
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a year long position. We are looking for someone to step into the Coordinator role during the 2023-2024 school year so this is a perfect opportunity to learn the ropes.

Halloween Boo Bash Coordinator(s) & Committee:

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Annual NES Boo Bash
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event, including operation of Bake Sale
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event takes place on October 28th but planning will begin in early October 2022.

Winter Carnival Coordinator(s) & Committee:

  • Assist with creating a new NES tradition – a Winter Carnival! 
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event, including operation of Bake Sale
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event is scheduled to take place in late January 2023 but planning will begin in November 2022.

Volunteer Coordinator:

  • Help PTA Board and relevant Committees with recruitment of volunteers for events and other PTA support
  • Work with local school groups to develop relationship for middle/high school volunteers
  • Set up, monitor, and communicate Sign-Up Genius links and progress with board and/or committees for events
  • Write/send emails to PTA Members to retain needed volunteers for events
  • Keep volunteers abreast of changes or needs for the events they will be working
  • Send Thank You messages/cards to volunteers following events
  • For large school events; coordinate and direct volunteers at check-in to ensure proper coverage and assistance
  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a yearlong position.

 Teacher Appreciation Week Coordinator(s) & Committee: 

  • Assist with the planning of the Annual Teacher Appreciation Week of celebration for NES teachers and staff
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to organize and solicit parent volunteers and donations via Sign Up Genius
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of the weeks celebration including decorating, setting up and monitoring for daily events
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place late April/early May but planning will begin in the beginning of March 2023.

Summer Kick-off Event Coordinator(s) & Committee: 

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Annual NES Summer Kick-Off Event
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place near the end of the school year but planning will begin in the beginning of March 2023.

Read-a-Thon Coordinator:

  • Assist with the planning and coordination of the annual Read for NES read-a-thon
  • Learn and manage Read for NES online system before and during the event weeks, includes providing daily updates on reading and fundraising challenges
  • Coordinate with NES Principal and staff to organize calendar of events for the event weeks and milestone/final incentives and prizes
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event will take place March 2 – 16, 2023.  Coordinator will need to be available throughout this time to ensure daily monitoring is provided.

Book Swap Committee: 

  • Assist with planning and coordination of the Annual NES Book Swap
  • Coordinate and Organize volunteers for set-up, break down, and running of event
  • PLEASE NOTE: This event typically takes place in the spring but planning will begin in the late fall of 2022.
