This month’s C.A.R.E.S. assembly was about Veteran’s Day.  Students gathered together for our featured speaker, Newbury resident and 2004 Triton graduate Donnie Jarvis.

Donnie is a veteran of the Massachusetts National Guard.  After suffering an injury during his tour of duty, he deals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with help from Mocha, his black lab service dog from Operation Delta Dog.   The dogs from Delta offer a “protective buffer” when a vet is out in social situations that helps the person better acclimate to crowds, promotes a sense of calm, and eases panic attacks.  Donnie is now dedicating his life to helping veterans just like himself learn how to help themselves with a Delta Dog.
